CUFIoT4AHA is a project winner from the second open call that had over 30 applicants from 14 countries across the world, submitted for the European H2020 Project ACTIVAGE. We will make Lisbon the next deployment site of ACTIVAGE IoT ecosystem for healthcare and well-being – the largest in Europe!

ACTIVAGE is an European Multi Centric Large-Scale Pilot on Smart Living Environments whose main objective is to build the 1st European IoT ecosystem, reusing and scaling up underlying open and proprietary IoT platforms, technologies, standards and integrating new interfaces needed to provide interoperability across these heterogeneous platforms. CUFIoT4AHA aims to expand the ACTIVAGE Ecosystem with a New Deployment Site in Lisbon (NDS LIS), Portugal. The NDS LIS builds on current AHA initiatives of José de Mello Saúde (JMS) – the largest private healthcare system in Portugal.The project brings together JMS, Promptly and Ubiwhere, and the VOH.CoLAB through a collaborative approach dedicated to health literacy, patient empowerment and health outcomes/cost assessment.

Our key goal is to build an integrated IoT platform for the empowerment of AHA and the delivery of homecare in Portugal. The pilot includes continuous monitoring in the home of the elderly, identification of relevant clinical situations for patient follow-up, and communication with both formal and informal caregivers.
The NDS LIS will involve +150 healthcare professionals, 33 informal caregivers and approximately 50 houses hosting sensors. 350 IoT devices will be included, including smartphones/tablets, blood pressure monitors, scales, glucometers and smartwatches/GPS trackers.

VOH.CoLAB’s key roles inside the project:

  1. Value analysis of introducing these technologies in the outpatient scope;
  2. Literacy contents development for IoT and digital health.
